Why do you want to order a truck? Did you check the dealer inventory in your area? It's best to go directly to the dealer's website to check their inventory.

I reallly need bench front seats and a 6.5 bed. Damn hard to find. The console seems to be very popular.

If you really need the bed size, it'll be easier to accept the floor console. It's difficult to find a 157WB with the right equipment let alone bench seat. Good luck.

Here is my dilemma. Ordered a F150 Diesel back in Feb; Truck was built in June and delivery date was for July. After two delivery date changes, it turns out my truck has headed back to Ford for hail damage repair. It was apparently damaged during CSX transportation.

My dealer finally called me tonight and broke the news on why my COTUS status is back to awaiting shippment. My issue here, its going to be at least 5 weeks until I even see this truck after waiting 7 months since ordering and then who wants to pay MSRP for a 2018 truck when 2019s are coming soon.

Would like to get your expertise opinion on this matter. I'm new to Fords but their supply chain process is flawed. I get that crap happens but the fact I had to hound them for a status and still no real ETA is beyond the test of my patience. Thanks for the help.

i think this is a no brainer

1) Steep Discount
2) order a 2019

heck no, who wants hail damaged truck
who wants a truck 3 months before new models released and I bet with rebates will be close to same price.

Keep in mind the '19's will have a higher MSRP.
Being a new engine (diesel), they've been waiting on different approvals, testing in order to release it. Be glad they didn't (hopefully) take any shortcuts bringing it to market.

Depending on what/how you use your truck, be certain that a diesel is the best engine for you.

110% "get" ordering a truck. It's the only way I buy any vehicle. What I don't get is people who don't get ordering a new - just the way you want it -truck.

Best of luck with your decision. Pics and feedback required.

Appreciate the insight. I agree. If you are going to spend 50k + you should get exactly what you want specific to your likely. I’m a fairly patient individual so I don’t mind the wait for a custom order but 7+ month is testing my limits now.

The dealer where I got my truck told me that they sell Lariat and above at msrp (less any Ford promotions), except for Raptors, which they still sell for 10k over list. Also was told that on no deal ever, would they even consider getting into their "holdback"

Not sure that dealer is being truthful. Mine went nearly $5k below MSRP on my Lariat (and then I got $3800 in rebates on top of that). And lots of people on this site say I got an average deal.

It doesn't have to be $50k you are spending, if you are buying a new vehicle, why not get exactly what you want and order it? Ford and their dealers know exactly what they are doing when they put trucks on lots and people buy a lot of them. Almost a million trucks a year, and most come equipped with just about everything an everyday consumer would want, and they offer a lot of variety. Most consumers are perfectly happy with what is on the lot and like I said, they buy a lot of them. For me, I don't want, or need a $1k FX4 package, or a $2k moonroof, or $1k in "upgraded" wheels and tires. I'd rather have the $200 inflatable rear seat belts, or Sync Connect, or pick another not so popular option that you can get and spend less on without the fluff. Or a diesel F150, for example, the options are endless.

The downside is what the OP came across, and other have as well, not to such an extreme extent though. The waiting for 4 to 10 weeks can be tough, and in this case, way more tough for what is happened.

Seriously, if a dealer actually says this out loud, they are either crazy, lying, or have absolutely no competition anywhere near them. Yeah, Raptors are the exception to pricing, but no dealer can stay in business with competition with a pricing strategy like that. And to say that out loud to someone, that doesn't trigger an automatic walk out the door response, would surprise me even more.

Agree. The reason I went with one on the lot was the pricing was wayyy better pricing than any ordering. Yes it has a couple options I wouldn't have chosen, but with pricing most of those were essentially free. This isn't true at every dealer or under any situation, but I'm more than happy with what I ended up with. It's basically a loaded XLT. I looked at the Lariats and above, but I just can't justify the pricing difference, the XLT has everything I need. It seems like the trims get progressively less better of a deal at each level.
