Default GPS Navigation from the Ford Dashboard Screen ?

Hey Guys,

I've been exploring Colorado areas that don't have cell phone coverage. It would be really cool to be able to navigate from my Truck's screen with GPS only (since I don't have cell coverage in the areas I'm exploring).

Anybody try to do this ?

Thank you !

I used the Ford navigation before, yes.
I think that is your question?

I'm also pretty sure I'm not the only person to have used Ford Navigation but maybe I am the person it was designed for.

Not sure where you are headed with that question. If you have the Navigation option on the 8" screen, then you have it - no phone needed. If you are using an Android phone for navigation, you can have google maps download offline maps for that area and you don't need reception. If you are looking for an offroad mapping app for android auto - it may exist, but I don't know one.

Maps.me is a offline GPS based mapping app. That can be used when you have no cell service. It’s available in the apps. Store.

He's looking for an app that works with his screen in the truck. Does Maps.me work with the truck's screen?

Well since he doesn’t state what rig he has it hard to answer. It will work on your phone when you have no cell service since it’s a GPS based platform. If he has sync 3 or later he can plug phone in with a cable and view on his screen.

I don't have a clue how you deciphered the message to read that way. Good job.
After reading it about a dozen more times I can make sense of that too.

I didn't know that option would be available though, neat if it does work. I haven't plugged my phone into the truck to know what happens with the 8" Lariat display device once phone is connected.

I got spoiled in my ex girlfriends car having built in navigation that I knew my next vehicle was going to have it (I do). I decided that turning off my music, connecting phone to bluetooth to hear navigation instructions and barely being able to drive and navigate wasn't what I wanted to do anymore. I'd rather play music and be guided.

I agree about the display. My F250 without display was totaled in March, so when I bought the new F150 I made sure to get the 8" screen. Not just the Lariat, but the XL with STX package or the XLT with 302A package gets it. I'm just a little disappointed in the number of apps that can be used with Android Auto - Google Maps and Waze seems to be it.

Guys find the app Map.me in your apps store . It will work with IOS OR ANDROID phones. It displays on your screen when you have your phone plugged into system. Music can be played while using app.Find the app and read as it has great capabilities and best of all no ads and it’s free!
