Default Governor

I just bought a 2011 FX4 and it tops out at 152km/h. Is this just a safety for new trucks or is this the governor limit. Although this is plenty fast enough there are times when a little more speed is needed. What options do I have that do not void my warranty?

why would you need more than that? trucks (stock) are not meant for speed. if you want to go faster get a car (they have limiters to, usually the 125mph/200km/h range), or a bike.

a tuner will take it off. and unless your at the drag strip and you can top your gov in a 1/4mile theres no need to.

either way now i know i can outrun the 2011s lol. my 05 is limited at 105

What would be some times that you would need a little more speed than 152 KM/H...tring to out run 5.0...my Edge took care of that for me set it at 130 MPH.

you can go with a tuner but before you do that I would suggest looking at what your tires are rated for. If you're running at max speed for your tires and want to bump up your governor that would be a bad choice

+1 Its totally fine to eliminate your your speed limiter. Just make sure that your tires are rated for whatever speeds your driving and that your brakes/suspension is capable for whatever conditions/speeds your driving in.

a big X2 on the suspension aspect as well. its very easy to get a 2 ton vehicles speed limiter removed and have the engine take you to a more "desirable" speed but here's the catch. How do you slow it down? blown tires or good brakes are both ways to slow it down but which one is more suitable to you?

FYI This isn't meant as a lecture it's more of an informational bulletin for you. I get that people have a need for speed, just do it under the right circumstances and be safe about it. No need for any accidents.

and most importantly HAVE FUN!

Let me take you back to the reason I came to this question-> where I live there are 100 series highways that are not divided. They have passing lanes, but some of them are not as long as they need to be. That being said, I start down the ramp onto the highway and pull in behind this jalopy. This person is weaving, slowing down and speeding up whenever I attempt to pass. Being patient I wait for a passing lane, once again this fool accelerates from 80 to well over 120km/h. At this point I wait till the passing lane almost ends and tramp it, blowing this guys doors off(or so I thought) the limiter kicks in and I just barely get by this moron. Thus creating one of those times when 152 just isn't fast enough! And let's be serious, 152 km/h is not remotely fast enough to start worrying about tires flying apart. PS I work for Michelin

You referred to a tuner? I'm familiar with what they are, but what make/model
do you think would best suit what I am trying to achieve? And would it void my warranty?

Edge, banks, or bully dog are all good tuners.

I removed my limiter, but my truck tops out at 110mph anyways lol. And is pretty tapped out on power after 75 too
