Got pulled over for taillights being too dark!?!?
I got pulled over this weekend for having my taillights tinted and I was wandering how easy it is to get the paint off my taillights? I was just gonna get some paint thinner and elbow grease to try and get that off. Do y'all have any other ideas?

How dark are they? I understand lightly tinting them so they aren't cherry red but when they're black... Damn I hate them. Can't see the damned brake lights and they lose their reflective properties. Just my opinion haha
Im also curious what you'll use to get the stuff off. I've tried brake cleaner once, it just made runs of what resembled water spots.

I personally went back and forth with my county sheriff's office here in Austin a few years ago about this. I had a 2002 Trans Am that I had tinted with the Night Shades paint and had done it too dark. The law in TX at that time was they had to be visible from 500feet at night and in day time. This was 5-6 years ago so it may be different now, but the cop had to prove he had done the measurement and he hadn't, so they dismissed my ticket. However, I removed the tinting pretty quickly just to be safe and not deal with it again.
That stuff comes off really easily with laquer thinner and some shop towels.

I've been pulled over for stupid things, but not tail lights being too dark. If its just for the tail lights and the person behind can't see you because it's too dark... they don't have their headlights on. Unless it's for the brake lights not showing up but, Idk what NC laws on lights are. Stupid laws.
