Im sure everyone has heard this, but is there anyway you can make some power out of a 88 efi 4.9? power adders bolt ons anything? everyone i know say that you cant do didly with my engine and i just know something out there can prove me right. i want to make some power outta my truck without killing it. pm me or leave me a message thanks guys

Well, I dont know the 4.9 too well, except for the fact that it is ungodly reliable with plenty of low-end torque to boot. I imagine a good exhust system would do wonders, header, mandrel-bent piping, high-flow cat, and a good muffler. Also, some kind of intake mod could probably help, get rid of that inefficient factory air-box.

Also, you may want to try and repost this in the older trucks section, there's more guys there with specific knowledge relating to your truck, or you could PM a mod and see if they will move the thread for you. Just a suggestion.

Im pretty sure Offenhouser made an intake for the 300 I6 but it might only be for a carb.

Does the truck have an automatic or a stick?

Ive driven a 5 speed with an I6 and it moved pretty good but the one with an automatic felt like a slug.
