Gear Selection Display

My 2020 Platinum, what controls the gear selection display? I think when I was in tow mode it was shown all the time but sometimes in regular mode it appears and sometimes it doesn’t? Why?

you've hit the +/- on the gear selector.

yep just press it one more time and it reappears.
