Default Gear indicator

Got in my truck yesterday evening and noticed that my vertical gear indicator is no longer working. It's the indicator that shows what gear you are in... 1-6.

Went to the lake fishing yesterday, and my brother backed the boat trailer down, we loaded the boat...but when I went to leave the boat ramp is when I noticed the indicator was not working. He said he pushed a couple of buttons on the steering wheel to stop the backup beeper...but I don't know of anything that would cause the gear indicator to stop working.

Anyone else heard of this?

There are up and down shift buttons on your shifter if you have a column shift.
Press the buttons to turn display back on and push more to lock out specific gears.

This is a feature not a problem!

I had same "feature" concerns when I first got my 2013!

Enjoy!

Whew...thank you Shark. Just went and tried it....it's back on. I did not know of this feature of turning it off. My brother inadvertently turned it off yesterday.

I have the owner's manual...just never thought you'd be able to turn the gear indicator OFF. Why would you want to?

If you install an aftermarket tune, it turns it off. I did a quick search in the forums and was able to get the answer when mine did this.

Permanently or can you turn it back on?

You turn it back on via the + button.

I have used the manual shift lock via the + and - buttons on the shifter, especially when pulling my boat...but had never tried to go up higher than 6. If you hit the + after the 6 it will turn off the gear display. Still not sure why that would be a feature .
