Default Gear ?

Guys looking at switch from 3.55 to 4.10 gears for 2013 F150 4x4 Platinum. For the gear heads on the board does this look right front and back part # wise? Thanks for any help. And thanks to Gonkey. My local Ford place wanted $800 just for rears and I think I might get both for less than $500.

AL3Z-4209-E and 8L3Z-3222-A

Can't provide feedback on the validity of the part #s, however, some words of advice ...
  • install a driveshaft safety loop.
    .
  • The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of low co$t is forgotten.
*IMO $800 is a reasonable price.

I will definitely look into the safety loop. The parts are OEM from another ford dealership. Should be same parts.

Understand, however, low quality/low co$t reference was to the $800 (for the rear) installation price from the dealership vs $500 (for both) from "some-guy" - but HEY if he's (or the shop's) reputable and warranties his (their) work, by all means, why spend more than you have to.

Have fun stormin' the castle boys!

That was just for parts from my local dealer. Front $500 and rear $800. Labor was going to be around $1500-2000. I'm comparing Ford parts to Ford parts. Install was not part of that price.

Just food for thought. You may want to check on how this could effect your warranty.

Its sad that this even has to come up. You are right, but I'm essentially making the transmission night and day better, but I could totally see them trying to get out of it. The truck was bought in another state and the warranty was bought there. It also came with 6 inch lift and tires, one would think it would have been done with the lift!

Why must you have Ford gears? I ran the same Yukon gears in two different trucks and with a total of about 110k miles turning 38s and being pushed by 330rwhp and 400rwtq there still going strong.
Had front and rear with install kits delivered for around $500.

I was told that there were not any aftermarket gears in the 4.10 range for my truck. Then I was told there was. Also thought that if anything ever did happen it would look better if there were Ford OEM products in truck.
