I have a 2009 5.4 with the bully dog gt programmer and aftermarket CAI and flomaster dual exhaust. My question is my truck has the performance tune which says to use 93 octane but could I use 87 octane with some type of octane booster and if so which one to use and should it be used at every fill up or should I just stick with 93 octane? Also, with the mods that I have listed how much of an increase in horse power do you think my truck puts out? Thanks.

 

Uhhmm I don't have any experience with Octane booster but I prolly wouldnt trust it. And performance gains all depends on how you tune it. I can do a custom tune in Performance mode on my truck with my Edge Evo and I know its getting well over 35HP from what the canned tune claims to have. I would guestimate closer to the 50HP range, but again many factors play into that. Timing, amount of fuel, tires/wheels, tuner, etc

 

You need to keep 93 Octane in it, or put a tune on it that is ok with 87 octane. Or you can put meth injection on it. Don't trust the stuff in the bottle.
