theyre both 4x4s. FX4 and Liarat are different packages. just like King Ranch and the Harley Davison.

FX4 i believe is one step above the Lariat, not sure what the Lariat comes with but i do believe the FX4 comes with skid plates and the 3.73 LS differential. its the offroad package.

im sure someone on here will chime in soon with some more info on both. i would go with the FX4 though.

FX4 generally all had 3.73's. There were some exceptions but most did. Lariat's had several different options even with the 4x4.

If it comes down to it, go with a 2008 model if at all possible. They got the new head/spark plug design where they don't break off and cause all sorts of problems. 2008 was the switch over and most people with that year don't have near the issues that the 04-07's do when it comes to spark plugs.

4high is what you will use most of the time for mud, dirt, snow ect.

4lo gives you more torqure, normally used for towing.

with the 4high you can switch it on on-the fly, recommended under 50mph hough. with 4lo you need to stop the vehicle, put it in neutral, hit the brake, switch to 4 low and go back into drive. youll hardly ever use 4lo.

correct me if im wrong dudes.
