fuel injection trouble
Hello Gearsmash,
Sorry I have not responded to your thread until now. I am wanting to know where the fuel injection gets its pip signal from to fire the injectors. The Chiltons manuel does not help me alot and says that it has a crank sensor however this truck does not have one. This is a project in process and am trying to get it going again and if you can help me out it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks so much

87 is Speed Density....they are Bank Fire...left bank and right bank...it's all ECM
I think the TPS regulates it more than anything..if the Throttle Position Sensor is bad it wont pulse at all...

You most likely have a bad TFI module. When it fails, there is no signal sent to the EEC and in turn does not call for firing of the injectors. This was a common issue for the 1984 to 1991 5.0 engines. Ask me how I know about this in failure in bumper to bumper 5 o'clock traffic. Never mind, don't ask. The post would be deleted. It's a relatively easy fix for a mid-level mechanic.
