Well i went through a small creek on a trail, and now I've got a problem. water got in the front diff, but luckily not the rear. below is a picture of the fluid. im away at school and wont be home for another two weeks. how difficult would this project be to do in one day? I can get to it at the earliest on Sunday. should i do that and just not drive it until its changed, or take her in. any ideas what it would cost at the stealership vs buying the supplies and doing it myself. thanks

It's easy just pull the drain plug and refill I would not recommend driving on it too much as that will severely shorten bearing life

You won't...best to remove the cover and clean it out and re-seal with RTV.

a good bead of RTV once you get both surfaces nice and clean...you will be good to go.

can anyone confirm that the front diff fluid is supposed to look different than this? i have heard of ford using a tan colored fluid in their front axles before, and it supposedly looks almost exactly the same as if water is mixed with standard fluid. anyone have experience with their front diff fluid on a 04-08 model?
