Well this confirms earlier thoughts about the ghost EV that has been driving around Detroit.

Well, whether we love it or hate it, Ford certainly hopes to get $500 million dollars worth of something from Rivian.

Here is Ford's Press release. Sounds serious. Electric Ranger??

The F-150 was well before this was announced.

Ford has to do something. As the owner of a 2010 Fusion Hybrid (sold) and a 2018 Fusion Energi, I can tell you they are way behind, their support is lacking, and battery capacity is pretty much a joke.

I believe battery capacity/range is one of the reasons Ford has teamed up with Rivian.

One way or another one of those two trucks will grace my carport, RT1 or an eF150. Not the first year model mind you, wanna give them both at least a year or two to work the bugs out. I might have 25000 miles on my truck by then lol.

The vertical headlights are a bit polarizing but like anything else I'm sure it'll grow on people, other than that yeah I agree very cool. I've been following Rivian since they first announced their endeavour.

I would definitely get one. Or atleast a plug in hybrid or something. The longest drive I do usually is about 200 miles there and back. I imagine in 5 years owning an EV will be a lot more practical in terms of charge points and everything. Here its almost to the point of not being a hassle but as a renter I don't really have that option, and would have to rely on going to a Tesla station or whatever.

Would be interesting to see a 4x4 ev with hydrogen fuel cell version too for like extended offroad periods. There is 1 Hydrogen fill up in Sacramento so if one knew they'd be offroad they could fill up on some H and bring jerry cans (or the liquid hydrogen equivalent) and use the fuel cell as a mobile powerstation and also have enough juice for getting in and out of wherever. Right now there are no plugin fuel cell cars to my knowledge, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a common thing in 10 years, given that it would simply require adding another charging option to a fuel cell car. Honda already is selling the FCX Clarity.
