Ford IDS Software Question
2009 F150 4.6L 2 valve 2wd Vin.
I am looking to hear from an expert in IDS software. I got a replacement ECM form Flagship (mistake) as my ECM had a coil driver failure. Once received I had a local shop reset the parameters and program the keys. All went fine. After a day or so of test drives two codes appear. P1639 "VID Block Corrupted Or Not Programmed". B1342 "ECU Internal Failure".
The issue is when the tech connected the IDS to read the codes he got the following message:
"The diagnostic tool was unable to obtain valid part numbers from the vehicle..
Update the service tool software to the latest level.
The part number reported by the module in the vehicle is
9L3A-12A650-BEB
The part number retrieved from As-built is:
9L3A=12A650-BCA".
I called Ford and they state the AS-built number is what was from the factory, essentially the engineering for the truck and is correct. The part number is different however. Ford states that should not matter.
My question is would IDS allow the tech to continue with a reflash at that point even with the non valid numbers? It did not present that message on the initial reset of the parameters and key programming. I took it to a friends local Diesel shop as he stated they use IDS at times. I fear they were simply not as adept in the nuances of IDS.
I'm screwed as even though the truck runs great it has the CEL for the P1639 and the other code B1342 is an ABS issue lighting up the ABS, Brake, and traction control lights. Flagship wants me to return the ECM, they will replace it. Then I need to spend more money to have the parameters reset and the keys made. I don't want to try that shop again so I'm left with a dealer for the programming. Plus I will need to get it to a dealer then remove the ECM as it will be dead in the water until the parameters are reset and the keys programmed.
Thanks in advance...

Oh I've had the ECM out many times! LOL. I also am very familiar with Forscan. My issue with Forscan is for some reason I can't seem to get the licensing to download correctly. I have tried two computers several times. I am using just the basic version. I would love for it to work then when the replacement ECM comes I can reset the KAM then program the keys myself.
Is that message above that states "Update the service tool software to the latest level" a generic message or is their software not up to date?
Here is a link to my other post detailing the entire sequence of events and what led me to diagnosing a faulty coil circuit driver in the ECM. It's been a real pain in the ***! LOL
