ford garage and programmers?
I am getting my tranny rebuilt Thursday due to a bad bearing. It only has 42000 miles on it and its supposed to be a warranty job.
Do they check to see if you once had a programmer on it. It did have a gryphon on it for a month a long time ago, but nothing they saw.
Anyone with experience on this?

my guess is if the warranty says if you put on on it voids it then its going to void it. but i don't think there's any way to tell that it had a programer on it as long as its back to factory presets
It doesn't matter anyway unless they can prove the programmer caused the damage to the transmission. If you were messing with shift points and got it all messed up and left it that way you could have caused damage but my guess is you didn't and they wont bother with it even if they do find out you had a programmer.
I didn't mess with shift points or anything but it would still void it, it was only on a month.
I'm wondering if its standard procedure to check or not?
Or even if they can tell.

well if it involves cash then they will check for it. there's a reason for the guide lines it sucks i know but its still there property until you pay it off. and they dont want to be fixing stuff that could have been prevented by not adding something. but as long as the computer is back to the factory presets you should be fine theres no way of telling that it was hooked up to your truck

It wont void your warranty. Nothing about the programmer caused the damage to your transmission. Just having it isn't enough to void a warranty, we have to be able to prove that a modification caused the damage.

A lot of people are scared of voiding warranties but like I said you have to do something that causes it. Now if you had 40" tires and 4.88 gears and stuff, you probably messed up your stock trans. A little tuner that tweaks air and fuel ratios a little didn't do anything, especially since you're not currently even running it.
I never had a warranty on any vehicle ive owned but i do know some warranty's state that putting something like that in the truck will void it that's what i was saying. but its out now so there's no real way of proving it was in there. i dont think you need to worry about it at all unless you did put 40 inch tires on your truck
Doing a modification of any type does not void your warranty in any way shape or form unless it causes the damage. Also you don't need to modify in order to void your warranty, neglecting maintenance outlined in your owners manual can void your warranty as can abuse, such as extreme off-roading, doing burnouts and racing, basically using the vehicle to do things it's not built to do, even if it's capable. But I repeat, a tuner WILL NOT void your warranty. Even if you still have it installed and in your truck when you ride into the dealer.
