I am looking to buy a 99 F150 4x4 5.4 v8. It has 220,000 miles on it mostly highway. I am going to look at it today. Just wondering if there is anything I should look for or be weary of and if it would still be reliable. Any information is appreciated.

Hard to say on that particular truck. I can say I have had two Triton motors, both 6.8L v10's. My 1997 went 435k and was running and driving fine when I sold it and my 2002 has 230k on it and we still drive it everyday. A couple things to watch out for are hesitation and clunky shifting. But if it is smooth, tight and runs out fine, I wouldn't be afraid of it if the price is right.

Plugs and coil packs are probably due if they haven't been done. I always turn the OD off except when I am on the highway. Watch your oil level, those motors using some oil is pretty common.

See if plugs have been replaced, those years could shoot plugs out of the engine...
