Firestone Destination MT'S
. New to this site, haven't read the threads...bare with me! Been researching tires for my "06 150. Live in Denver at the moment, heading home to Molina, Co. in June. (Grand Mesa area )
Looking for reviews on Firestone Destination MT'S.
I know they suck on ice, that's why I have chains. Do they last more than 20-30 grand?
I'm shooting for 325-65-18 / coming off 35-1250-18 Pro Comp Extreme Terrains.
P.C.'s were great tires for about 1/2 of their tread life. After that, they cupped, wore uneven, impossible to balance, sucked at highway speeds, and just managed to get me through 40,000 miles of tread! STILL, can't bad mouth a tire that did what it claimed to do! Good job pro-comp, price your **** accordingly!
Any way, still looking for a back road, mud churning tire that I can still run up the road from time to time! Need to run I-70 over Vail and Eisenhower
several times a year... should I take Mamas truck?

These are a second set of tires used primarily for offroading. They do a great job. The H3 is a little underpowered to really spin them up to speed to do an excellent job of cleaning in mud, however the design of the tire still clears well. Only thing I would like to see a little improvement in is side stability on the trail. On a slick sideslope, these tend to slide down where a lot of other tires will stick.

I do not have knowledge of the tire you are asking about, but I would like to suggest the tire I have been driving on for the last 4 years, the Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S. It is a 50,000 mile tire and you will get every one of those miles (and more) out of them. I have driven thru moderate mud and snow with no trouble at all and their wet road traction is excellent, in my experience. Here is one review from tirerack.com, where the overall customer rating for this tire is 8.31:

What a major difference from the OEM General's! I use the Pathfinder as a bad weather/towing/work truck. I now have full confidence in deep snow and off road. I drove through 20" of snow without 4x4, and no problem! I also pull a 10' ATV trailer through soft sand and mud. They are great in rain and normal city/highway driving. I was originally looking at the Nitto terra A/T's..but didn't come in my size; then the BFG's A/T... but were too much money. These Yokahama's are truely the best bang for your buck. I would recommend these tires to anyone!
Feel free to peruse tirerack.com, or any other site for reviews. I have spoken with 2 people in my hunting club, that use the BFG's and they both have said they are good tires, except in the rain, where they tend to hydroplane easily. That alone is enough for me not to buy them. I certainly don't need to slide off the road in the rain because of my tires.
