Fire Department F-150s
Has anyone noticed that it seems fire departments seem to have nicer trucks than the police department? I'm sure this varies location to location, but I've noticed that while law enforcement around here tends to drive (older) trucks until they're dead, the fire departments are constantly receiving new trucks every other year or so. Has anyone ever purchased one of these trucks? I'm sure they've been driven hard location to location, but ones I've seen for sale have good service history records in addition to being clean. Not only are some of these nice looking, but there is a good amount of FX4 Lariats I've seen around too. I guess if you're a Lieutenant in one of these agencies that permits take-homes, you don't need to buy your own personal truck when you can just take a Lariat home, ha.

I'm okay with my Fire Department having reliable transportation if that means they can make it to my house quickly. So I actually DO believe it is tax dollars hard at work. Seeing all the other waste in government, I'm okay with my localities spending a little extra on PD, FD or EMS.

I haven't noticed the FD vehicles being any nicer. Around here a pickup is pretty commonly used by FD command staff. Very few LE officers are using trucks. The Dept. has a few, and they are driven as needed but it takes a long time to run up a lot of miles on them. As a result a lot of 10 year old LE trucks have very few miles on them.

No FD needs a Raptor lol
Our local PD bought an MRAP....so...yeah. I know of no events in Columbus, GA that would ever need an MRAP

So there are absolutely no offload fires in your area that maybe remote? IE lightning strikes..
this is like what my dads FD took to forest fires

Or a seventy thousand dollar Raptor for that matter. I'm all for giving local PD's/FD's what they need, but sometimes they're quite extravagant

i would think a 4x4 F250 would be more inline to what they actually need
