Fender Replacement???
My wife's 2008 Edge got hit in a parking lot last night and being that it was about -30* and snowing, she didn't notice it until today. The scratch/dent runs a good length of the fender on the body line so I'm assuming the fender is going to be replaced.
I'm in Saudi Arabia right now so she is going to have to deal with the body shop herself but I called them and they estimated $900-$1100 for parts and labor. I'm assuming they are going to blend the door and they might be able to get away with not blending the hood. The price difference between OEM and aftermarket wasn't very much so I would rather just get something that I know will fit right.
Does this seem a little steep or was I just low balling? Our deductable is $500 and I was thinking it would have been somewhere closer to that. I would prefer to just pay for it without dealing with the insurance company but if we're looking around $1000, I'll just take it in the shorts with Allstate.
She's sending me pictures and I'll post them when I get them so you guys can tell me what you think. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm likely wrong, but before you spend money check with your agent. We have $500 deductible too-- on collision coverage. But your wife was parked. Who knows how the dent was made?
When a dog ran into the side of my wife's car while she was driving on the interstate, we paid no deductible. Check.

The new fender was priced at about $200 OEM. Like I said before, there wasn't much price difference between OEM and aftermarket so I'll be sticking with that. Most of the cost is labor.
My old STi got hit in a parking lot a few years back completely destroying my passenger side rear door, quarter panel, fuel door, trunk, bumper and tail light. Total cost was about $3500 and I had to pay a deductable. Different insurance company though so I'll check into paying a deductable, thanks.
