Faulty Locking Differential Dial
Hi all, new to the site, so figured this is perfect for my first post. Wondering if anyone can offer assistance. My 2013 Ford F150 is having an issue with the locking differential switch, 9/10 when I start the truck up and the remainder of the journey, I have to keep pressing in the locking differential **** so that it stays off, I can let go of the know when I get up to speed, but as soon as I slow or stop it engages again, And yes before you ask, the **** is all the way in, but I have to press hard to keep the Locking diff off.... has anyone ever experienced this?
Just went through this 2 weeks ago. Same exact problem you're describing. Ordered new part from Ford $79. Tasca Parts was cheaper but I didn't want to wait on shipping because driving around, especially making turns, under 20 mph holding the switch down got old fast. Amazon sells them as well that and is also cheaper than Ford, but wasnt in stock when I was looking.
There's a video on YouTube that shows how easy it is to change it out. Took me no more than 10 minutes and I was talking my time being careful not to crack my dash panel. One you get the old one out it's more than likely going to be the little plastic piece that holds the screw in that's broke, thus releasing the contact and making the truck think you want the differential locked.
Hope this helps.
Here's the part number I used for my 2014.
