I would say invoice, less rebates. The dealerships need to make room for the 2011's and if they want to get rid of it, they'll work with you. If you're going to finance, get pre-approved from a bank/credit union of your choice and come in with a check cut for the invoice price minus any rebates and tell them you will buy immedietly. If they want to move trucks, they'll play ball.

Thanks for the reply's. I was thinking around 38 but i never looked at a leftover before so didn't know how deep of a discount the dealer would go.

My understanding is to wait until the last 2days of the month. They do not want the inventory the following month. I guess have to pay a fee to ford...basically renting the vehicle another month. I justified a 2011 up and they would only keep the price I offered until the last day of January.

finance with Ford to get the extra $1,000...then move it to your credit union.

flashing CASH to a dealer makes no difference in the bargaining process. they'd rather you finance.

The only way the dealership benefits from financing through them is if the finance manager adds points to the rate, and this only helps the finance manager make his commission. Some states it's legal, others it's not. If Ford is offering special rates, this isn't going to matter at all. \

Coming in pre-qualified makes a huge difference in time spent back and fourth. I spent about 5 years selling cars at various dealerships and a finance manager at a smaller used lot. If they really want you to finance with them, your pre-qualification will only help you more by showing the dealership you're a serious buyer, making them more willing to cut you a deal.

Here's an update. tried getting the FX4 but through a different dealer, i didn't want to deal with the one that had it. the dealer i did go to couldn't do a dealer exchange with them because of the close proximity of the two. any they found 3 of them at other dealers. while they were searching inventory i saw a King Ranch sitting on there lot. anyway long story short i was able to buy it for 35. that was less then it would have been for the FX4. so i guess there really are good deals to be had if you look for them.
