Don't bother sanding them either. Just wash them with dish soap to degrease them and start spraying.

I tried some black shoe polish. It actually looks pretty good, but you do have to do a couple of coats. For the price, I would say it's a good alternative. Painted mine two months ago and it stills looks pretty good.

Wow you are making way to much work for yourself, and it is so simple, they make special spray paint to recolor dash, and other interior plastic surfaces. go here;
http://www.wheelskin.com/interior-spray-dyes-and-primers.html

If you need to repair cracks and holes go here:
http://www.eastwood.com/interior-repair.html

The Key to using this paint is surface prep, you can not just hose down the plastic surface and expect it stick and look good.

You can also get new panels at LMC Trucks.

I used rustoleum plastic spray paint on the front bumper insert (license plate/grille) on my 2000 camaro is it held up great for for 2 years and still looked great when I sold it.

That was in hawaii where it rains just about every day and when it's not raining you get almost equator sun rays.

Don't forget the rear bumper trim and windshield cowl by the wipers.

While you're at it grab some 99 cent regular spray paint and touch up the wheel wells, rear axle, and trailer hitch assembly. It makes a great difference in the appearance of your truck.
