I would pass on the brush guard unless you are particularly adept at fabricating metal.
That isn't a high dollar brush guard, it has some wear, and would be expensive to have someone else fab up mounts to adapt it to your truck.
Even if you were able to make your own mounts to adapt it...it would probably look odd since it wasn't made to fit your truck. The headlight loops probably wouldn't line up right or it would hang too low, etc.

When shopping for a sturdy add-on type guard, look for ones that attach at more than just the opening in the bumper...those fold over when you hit something (like Lutter5-0 mentioned).

You caught some flak for this post for some reason...but in the end...I'd avoid that free one (again, unless you can fab up your own mounts for cheap).

Cheaper brush guards/bull bars/cow catchers, I feel, are just aesthetic mostly. I wouldn't bank on my bull bar saving me from much of anything significant. (it does have a dent on it from a rock, which could've hit my truck instead).
Maybe they're good for riding trails and keeping back brush or small limbs. Probably need one of those high dollar, complete bumper replacements if you wanna stop cattle

I am looking to put one on for deer impact. We travel much to northern Wisconsin. My many interactions with Murphy and his Law have taught me better to have one and not need it than to need it and not have one...

I have been looking at some of the weld together bumpers...and even asked one guy if he would send sketches of what he made...might be a winter project and get me back to welding
