Default F150 xl vs ranger lariat sport

Need some advise. Looking at buying or leasing a 2021 f150 v6 xl short bed or a 2021 ranger lariat sport. Both 4x4. Which would you guys recommend and why? Which would ride smoother? Would the ride be much different between the 2? Im coming from a lincoln mkc. Never owned a truck before.
Thanks for your time.

You're comparing the cheapest base model F150 to a top end Ranger. Which cab style, regular cab, extended cab or crew cab? And Ford sells 3 different V6's for the F150. They are very different trucks made for different needs.

My brother has a 2020 XLT Ranger and I have a 2020 XLT Explorer with the same engine and transmission. I can honestly say I like that drivetrain. Fuel mileage will be considerably better with the Ranger and it may well tow more depending on which engine you get in the F150. The 2.3L engine in the Ranger will move down the road in a hurry and it has the torque and gearing for pulling. My biggest complaint with the Ranger is the small fuel tank. If towing you have to stop pretty often to fill it up.

If you don't need the interior room or larger bed the Ranger looks good. But I need more room in both the cab and bed. As much as I like the Ranger it is just too small for me.

I can’t really give you a good answer. The f150 XL STX model is a nice truck even though it’s a base model

but what do you need and what do you want? Need a bigger truck? Okay get the f150.

Don’t care about size and want a nicer interior? Get a ranger.

IMO, both trucks will ride just fine. Why not buy?

I bought my wife a 2019 lariat ranger, it’s okay for her, it’s comfortable for her to drive, not as roomy as my 2020 Ford F-150 that I use to tow my bass boat around with. As for your question, it depends on what you plan on using it for which should determine what you what to buy.

Hands down the Ranger. It's a VERY capable vehicle. Hellacious payload, great towing. The 2.3 Ecoboost simply has to be experienced to believe it's a 4 banger...it is THAT GOOD. You'd be very disappointed with the base model F-150 by comparison.

My needs will be pretty basic. Ability to haul things when i need it. Maybe light towing in the future for utv and atv. I have 2 children. 17 and 10. I like the room of the f150 but i also like the trim of the ranger. I hear there is alot of take up on the rangers brakes. Is that true? Which do you think will hold value better?

my needs are pretty basic. Which do you prefer to drive and why? Which rides nicer and which handles better? And i do understand they are both trucks. I’m just curious about other peoples opinions.
