I have to comment about how inclusive the F150 world is. I have a 1978 Cougar XR-7, which will soon be going away. I have been a member of a Cougar Forum for a number of years, I have alway felt like a second class citizen of the Cougar world in fact my model might just as well be a broken down old Toyota. I call my XR-7 a Ghetto Glider model. I fully understand this the older Muscle Cougars are a different beast.
On other hand there is the F150 world. To own an F150 is to be inducted into the Grand Order of the F150. To be sure there are individual models that have a special place but that doesn't impact the general community there is among F150 owners. I must say I am enjoying this difference.

i know how youve felt about that whole cougar situation. i used to have a sandrail, which to any other person is a pretty flippin sweet ride, but when i got on the sandrail forum, it was basically junk simply because it was set up for more street driving than dune riding.... lol kinda made since though since there are no dunes in florida and your not allowed on the white beaches... lol.
the f150 world is more of a family than anything

You may think I'm crazy but I have no problems with Chevrolet either. I own a few GM products myself, such as 5, 1964-1966 model 1/2 tone pickups and also a 1968 Pontiac GTO with a 400 and a four speed. Don't get me wrong I love my Fords as well, but I have no problem with the leading competitor either. Now Dodges on the other hand, hate 'em.

Some very good things, why do you think almost everybody (at least up here) runs a Chevy in the drag races. Parts are cheaper and motors such as a small block 350s you can pretty much buy parts a dime a dozen. And the 350 was also a very good motor along with the 283 and the 327. But Ford's 302 was also a very good motor. Now when i came to there bigger c.i.d motors they needed some help in the past. Such as the 360 and 390 both had problems with valves and the way the intake was part of the head was not a very smart idea. But with todays technology you can also make those motors last for a long time. I recently built a 390 for my 1978 F-250 2wd farm pickup and it's a good motor. I had to build for more pulling then anything to haul the anhydrous tanks (two of those tanks at 1800 gallons tends to pull damn hard).
