f150 cold start shifting
on a cold start is my f150 going to be shifting differently? i heard that is a common problem with the 10 speed. let me know if my truck is toast or not. btw im new to trucks. i purchased it few days ago. its a 2019
mine would hesitate between 1-2, felt like the trans dropped into neutral and cut engine power, then it would SLAM into gear. 3rd gear started slamming as well, and overall shifting was not smooth and normal. It would smooth out the hotter the trans got, and act more normal around 200F trans temp. Dealer replaced the CDF drum and did basically a complete trans rebuild to repair. Known issue with a press fit bushing in the CDF drum slipping. Seems to be a common issue on the 10R80 and 10R140.
I always try and let mine run and warm up before I drive it, but once in a while my remote start won't work and I get in and only run a minute then drive because it's freezing out. And when I have done that I found there is a big delay going into gear and it does shift odd until it warms out.
Like I said, I try to avoid driving until it has had some warm up time.
