F-150 e brake disaster
When changing out your rotors and calipers on an F-150, you have to put the e break in maintenance mode in order to take off your rear calipers. This is ridiculous when the maintenance mode actuator doesn’t work. I tried the procedure 100 times to no avail. There is no other way without destroying your caliper and getting stuck with the caliper fully extended. This is a known issue, and many people have complained about this function not working, yet Ford has not acknowledged it. They tell you to bring it in, and they’ll remove the rear axle, fixing the problem for 500.00 (Why would you have to remove the rear axle to fix this?, It makes no sense). Could we stay old school when changing your rotors and calipers without having to put your truck in maintenance mode? I'm embarrassed by the amount I had to pay in order to get new rotors and pads on. I have always done this maintenance on my 99 Lightning, 2004 Lightning, 96 Cobra and 99 Cobra and other F-150's and GT's. Changing Roter and Pads is one of the easiest DIYs you can do. I know there are various ways to do this manually, but with a high risk of damaging the actuator/caliper.

You could have put it in a gear so the ebrake did not come on, or used the emergency/tow to unlock the shifter and put it in gear to release the brake, of course block the tires.. Would almost guarantee that's what the shop did that worked on your truck

I had no issue putting mine into Maintenance Mode when swapping out the pads. It kept failing to turn off Maintenance Mode when I finished up and I started freakin' out. I attached my CTEK charger to the truck, tried the procedure again, and boom, worked. Done and done.
