Exposed plug on transfer case

Exposed plug on transfer case
While inspecting my 07 F150 after sliding off the road into a ditch full of ice, snow and weeds I noticed an exposed electrical plug on the transfer case. 
Shouldn't there be a cover or some sort of protection over this?
