Exhaust question?
Aint nothing going to make it sound like a big engine... I have an 02 f150 with a 4.2.. and a 08 f150 with a 4.2
02..... has catback..2 1/2 from the cat back.. 45degree bein the rear tires.. 3inch tips 22inchs long... has a nice deep tone at idle.. .. i love it... no muffler
08 is all stock except the muffler has been taken out and a peice of pipe added in... sounds like a tractor idleing... and gets really loud at higher rpms..

back when I had my 2.5L Ranger I had a Si/DO Flowmaster, w/o a cat it sounded like a 4.0L V6. When I had my 4.0L V6 I went with a magnaflow, a Dynomax, and even a cherry bomb. They all made it sound like a UPS truck flying down my street.
Magnaflows seem to only sound good with an 8 cyl. They sound quiet at idle and give a medium amount of growl under a rev. Not too loud but noticable.
My friend Joey had a 5.0L and a 5.8L F150 with a SI/DO magna's. They sounded better than my cousins Cobra(granted it was stock, but it was still mean), and so I went with a SI/SO with a set of magnaflow hi-flo cats with my 4.6L. Sounds 100x better than a flowmaster to me.
