This question is asked multiple times a week here. Short answer: almost none. Your ecoboost will never sound anything close to a V8. Plenty of other things where your money would get you a better return on.

Yeah, but...

What if you realize the v6 won't sound like a v8 and you like a v6 growl and wanna know which exhaust would sound the best.
I would like to know, cause I will probly' be doing something to mine when it comes in.
The old Buick v6 turbo Grand Nationals had a totally cool sound with aftermkt. exh.

Just sayin'.

Quoting another member here, "Every v6 with an aftermarket exhaust I ever heard sounded like someone farting in a bucket."

I tend to agree.

While I totally agree with the above statements on performance exhaust for a 6 or 4 cyl, here's something to keep in mind:

An internal combustion 4 stroke motor is nothing more than an air pump. Air goes in, air goes out. Simple as that. Yes it's actually an air/fuel mixture but you get the point. The best way to improve performance is by improving or increasing the amount of airflow through the motor.

While the sound of a performance exhaust on a 4 or 6 cyl does sound like a fart in a bucket, if done well it can and will show a minor performance gain and maybe a gain in fuel mileage.

Remember those of us who are hot rodders know that it's a perfect combination of performance add ons that work together to improve HP and torque. The best way I can explain it is to say that you can drop an 800HP big block motor into your car but if you use a stock single exhaust the motor can't breathe.

You can at best, squeeze out a little more turbo whistle. But again, SEARCH THE FORUMS! Especially the 2015+ section!

Turbo whistle is a good thing!

From the intake side as well as exhaust. What brands of exhaust give the best turbo sound?

Is there an intake kit that would allow for turbo music to get past all of the insulation?

I wish they rolled out of the factory with a little bit cooler sound... they design performance in, then go to great lengths to make sure a Prius makes more noise.

I wanna hear turbo and exhaust while driving... not loud, just enough to sound good.

Some v6 set ups do sound nasty, but mellow out the growl and I like 'em!

Any brand names come to mind out there proven to get cool sounding results?

If I remember correctly, Borla has a pretty good sound for the V6. Check out the S Type.

Try to go to Youtube and search for some exhausts you like. In this way, you can get ideas about the sound.

while I tend to agree for the most part, the op is correct, the old GNs had very distinct sound. Not sure he will be able to replicate it with his truck tho.
