I have a 1997 f150 4x4 [4.6 v-8] needing to know if i can take cat convertors off without effecting computor and to keep check engine light off , and how i need to do this. Thanks

 

you cant take the cats off without the check engine light coming unless you get some mil elimitors for the o2 senors

 

On a '97 you should have no problem taking the back 2 cats without a light, IF, you put the O2 sensors back in the same spot, or you just gut the cats and then put them back in. I plan on doing this once I get a good muffler.
