It's not blocking the airflow, but it can add a lot of heat, reducing the ability of the transmission cooler, a/c condenser, and radiator to shed heat. Running the truck hard in hot climates, I'd install a larger radiator, Keep the IC in the stock location (bigger IC's are available for that location), and put fans on it.
