The camshaft in a Mustang is tuned for different performance than a pickup needs. You'd be days & dollars ahead repairing the spark plug threads as shown in this photo album & described in its captions:

Thank-you for your response, I have already used the thread repair kit on the same cylinder hole and it popped out, I just tried repairing the thread again and this time I have used red loctite. I was curious to know whether or not the heads would fit on or if the engine would bolt directly to the transmission if the newly repaired cylinder does not hold again. If not I may have to replace the head or take it to get machined with a more solid insert. Hopefully it holds this time around. Fingers crossed.

We had a work van with the 4.6 that same issue. at 120k it popped the plug a second time. Put JB weld on plug threads and drove another 100k

Then you didn't use THAT thread repair system, which is the only one that actually works.

Was driven another 100k with the JB weld to 220k and then it was sold at auction, probably still driving around somewhere. Figured head was gonna have to be replaced anyways so why not give JB weld a try, not saying it is gonna work in your case.

its holding for now, I'm hoping it holds for a 100k but don't know of I'll ever trust my truck like I used too. Fingers crossed.
