Default Efffff These Lug Nuts

Hi all,
I'm sure it's been covered at length, but I just wanted to say Fnck these OEM lug nuts.
When to go check my brakes and found out just how horrible these things are.

Advice for anyone with OEM lugs and plans to do their own work...
1. Purchase new lugs
2. Find your OEM lug wrench included in the jack kit
3. Replace all lugs with solid OEM equivalents
4. Throw them in the trash!

I ended up getting it off after hammering a 21mm socket on.

Just buy Gorilla lugs and never worry about them again. It sucks, but Ford is never going to fix the problem.

Agreed! I picked up some from my local wheel shop. They had solid oem equivalents.

Yea, just buy new ones. And FWIW, it's not just Ford.

Wound up? Not really. It just caught me off guard and pissed me off that I was unable to get my wheels off due to a **** design.
had four of the 6 off then spun one.

I’ve always had aftermarket wheels, so never had experience with the oem lugs until a few days ago... picked up a 17 fusion for my wife. Ya... they suck. Lol

At least you didn't find out on a rainy night at 2 am while on the side of the road...

But you're right, it does seem ridiculous that we need to buy new lug nuts. This lousy design is used by many car makers, though. It's as much the fault of the gorillas who use impact wrenches to remove them and install them, though. Not many people have problems if a standard wrench is always used. In reality, though, how many shops don't use impact wrenches? Very few, I would guess.

Yea I was reading horror stories about them while googling what actually happened and why it was spinning.
Apparently there is a class action about them.
