Default Edge programer and battery drain issue question

I got a new battery be cause last winter I got stuck a few times when I let the truck sit for a few days and it happened again at the airport over a 6 day sit.

The shop said my edge programmer was the issue.
This only happens in winter and over a few days of sitting.

Can I just unplug the edge whe I know the truck will sit for a spell or will this cause issues when I start the truck without it plugged in?

Any input Aprecaited

It's a 2008 f150 lariat with the 5.4 if that matters

Sounds a bit odd to me. Been running with an edge programmer for a few years and haven't had anything like that during the Kansas winters... And I've left mine sit longer than a few days at a time. Is it a possibility... I can't rule it 100% out but I'd doubt it. What else do you normally have plugged into the outlets? Any chargers? Chargers with LEDs on them? Radar detector? They may not be the cause either but could contribute.

*** forgot to add my truck is a '10.
As far as unplugging for a few days... It shouldn't be a problem though. May take a bit extra on start-up but not 100% on this either.
Also how old was your battery? I'd imagine that you've replaced it once before (being an '08).

I have had an Edge for the past 12 years and never an issue. I live in Kansas where it can get to negative temps and my truck will sit 3-4 days at a time. I doubt the Edge is the cause.

You could just continue to wonder if the programmer is causing the drain, or you can go to Harbor Freight and get one of these for 6 bucks. I'm sure that E-bay has them also.

You just need a cheap VOM that measures DC current, this one is good for 10 amps. Follow the instructions to use it.

If you live close to a Harbor Freight, you can pick one up for free with their ad. I have 4 freebies, they work fine for light use.

When the truck was in for an oil change yesterday they ran dignosis on the battery and all drainage to come to these results . I was told that it as the only drain so gonna have to believe that is what it is.
I also leave my truck at the airport for 6-7 days in Wisconsin wint rs so very cold and it only has happenn d in interns this year and previous years also.

The question is YB3uzrwrhat to do YB3uzrwrhole parked besides disconn citing battery YB3uzrwrhigh is a hassle when it's cold and on my way to catch a plan etc

To answer your original question, yes you can simply unplug the Edge from the OBD port. You can also unhook the battery. Not sure what all the YB3uzrwr is though.

I had an Edge Evo on my 06. I didn't run the truck much in the winter so sometimes after sitting in the garage for about a week without being started, the battery would be dead. After that happened a few times I kept it hooked up to a battery tender and it never died again.
I never troubleshot the problem. I just blamed it on the Edge Evo because I read about other people having the same problem.

The edge is causing the battery drain. I had one for my 2007 F150 4.6 and went on a boat cruise in the spring time and the truck sat for 7 days. When I got home, the battery was drained enough to where it wouldn't turn over. Shortly afterwards I bought a solar charger to put on the truck for the next time it sat. I read on another forum where lots of others had the same issue and that they had purchased battery tenders for when their truck sat up for extended times.

Or, you can just simply unplug it the next time it needs to sit.
