Edge Evolution and Transmission
I love my Edge Evo, total night and day wake up call for my '06 5.4L with 70K miles and 33's. I run mine on level 2 and only adjusted for the bigger tires. If anything, it will help your transmission. When tranny's shift smoothly, they're actually slipping a little bit to give it a smooth transition between gear changes. Those harder shifts will actually save the belts in the long run

I just got and installed this (Evo CS) as well, and give a +1 to new truck feel (and on level 1 economy), nice shifting and acceleration, and "warp-drive" is there instantaneously as opposed to stock where if you stomped on it I swore the 5.4 would call dearborne for permission to rev
I believe you wont be able to use E85 in it anymore (unless you tune back to stock) 1 thread I read said the ford's oem tune castrated the 5.4 because of it having to be multi-fuel agnostic. The biggest problem I had was getting the pod to stick to the dash, thrilled with performance so far. Too soon to tell but maybe about 0.5 mpg to the good fo far.

I run it on level 2 "economy/towing" because its set up for 87 octane and I'm already paying a lot for gas. Plus, this is supposed to be the most fuel efficient setting. If I felt like paying to run 91 or higher all the time I'd run it on level 3. But to answer your question, yes! It has a lot more get up and go.
After having mine for over a year, and running multiple tanks of gas through it, and doing multiple gas mileage calculations by hand, (the Edge exaggerates by about 3MPG), I found the best setting for maximum fuel economy was to leave it stock or do a trans only and set the shift points as low as they will go.
I think the MPG exaggeration is a sly sales plan by Edge.

Do you have a flexfuel 5.4L3V? My estimate above was based on before/after reads of the on-board running avg mpg, not what the tuner said. after resetting both this AM, after my 25 mile commute Evo said 19.6 and on-board said 19.3, driven very softly trying to watch the mileage coach. My previous baseline was 16.7, but I usually drive a bit more gonzo than this morning
I know its not enough time/distance yet. Next fill I will compare it to actual, the on-board could be off as well although it has seemed close. Im surprised the Evo doesnt have a 'trim' feature to help calibrate it, my old scanguage did.

Pretty much same as stock........On the other hand, you do feel power/acceleration gains on level 2
Update: I have had several fillups, and for me, despite colder temps, my mileage hand-calc is 18.3-18.7 and about +- 1 mpg off Evo. For me it does seem a bit better than stock. I did have a problem withe the Evo going dark (into recovery mode) which 'seems' to be related to temp, It was -2F and it just failed to light, and started beeping, requiring a fusion software recovery operation. Hope thats not a trend, there are dozens more chances for (-F) temps here in the next few months
I had an Edge programmer in my 06 for five years set at level 2. I found the truck shifted a lot better and less often especially hauling my trailer. I really didn't see a difference with the mileage and didn't care since it was bought strictly for the transmission.
