I posted this originally in the 04-08 section, but I thought it might get a little more exposure if I put it here too.

Can someone who has an Edge and that has used the USB cable to connect it to a computer tell me if it takes a special USB cable, or if it just has a general USB connection? I'm looking at buying a used one and the guy doesn't have the original cable and I was wondering if I could use just a general one instead.

Also, the little 'L' brackets that come with it...do you have to have those to connect the pod to the dash, or will 2-sided tape work by itself? I've watched the installation video on the Edge website and it shows these as parts that come with it, but they don't show you actually using them when they install it in the video. All they used was the tape.

I have a new Griffon CS. A magnificiant upgrade to the Edge Evo. CS.
The cable was Edge original and is not standard. It has 2 standard USB plugs (power in)to a mini USB(power out).
The info supplied said this was to insure (needed) sufficient power to the programer to make sure it was fully operational while upgrading or downloading programs. Especially from laptops.
EDGE might be able to sell you one.
This is just me, but that cable is the connection for any factory support(paid or not) if you have problems. I have added tape to mine and labeled exactly what it is for so there is no doubt that I have it if needed.
I personally would feel uncomfortable about buying one from someone that didn't have the manual and cable unless I knew them well.
Kinda like buying a GPS unit without a power cord. Too easy to be a ripoff from a ripoff. I am not knocking your seller.
