Default ECU issues

Ok I have 2 2008 F150s I took the motor from one I'm not going to use and put it in the one I am going to use. I'm not all too familiar with messing with ECUs but I hear if I use the PROM out of the truck I got the motor from I won't have to program anything. If that's true then ( and here comes the dummy question) where is the PROM chip at? Cause right now I'm getting no crank and ghost codes . I have a good scanner just don't have a programmer or 500plus to buy one right now. Im taking all advice..

Ok so I swapped motors from trucks both 2008 f150s . I hear if I use the PROM off the truck I got the motor out of I wouldn't have to program anything. If this is true then where is the PROM chip at on the ECU I can't find it . Right now I have no crank and ghost Codes. Taking any and all advice here.

If just changing the motors, why would you change the ECM? They are both 4.6s, the sensor and electrical connections should all be the same because they are both 2008s.

Yes that's my theory but all I'm getting is a click . I got the starter tested and it's good to go . I'm at a loss . I can't find anything I left unplugged anywhere I've tested all the relays and fuses and diode all I can figure is programming .I checked the linkage it's in park ive tried to crank it in neutral and I've clicked all the way down the tree and tried it just in case but nanda everytime.

If you are only getting a click I would check the power connections AND all the grounds, especially engine ti chassis and chassis to battery.

Was the engine verified functioning prior to the swap?
