Default ECU

Alright. I have a 2005 f150 with the 5.4. I believe my ECU is on it’s last leg and I was wondering if I’d be able to go to a pick apart and pull one off a wrecked one. And what all it would need to work

I wouldn't be so sure, you can't use a generic scan tool. You need a Ford IDS or similar scan tool

you also need 2 keys

True that and any one can own IDS, I do but then I did work for Ford so I knew I'd need it when I bought my truck. Not cheap but most certainly not dealer exclusive.

Can also be done using Forscan as they added PCM support for asbuilt data. Forscan is a lot cheaper, it's free lol.
