My 2012 f150 xlt 4 door 108k ecoboost truck started doing the cold start up rattle, videos and research say its the timing chain is stretched and needs to be replace before further damage happens. how much should i pay to get the timing chain replaced either by ford or a smaller mechanic? or whats the price range for this repair? live in Minnesota suburb.

 

honestly is such a well known issue I would ask ford first. They might split the cost or some other immuneration. That's a normal thing for well known issues. They do hidden warrentys and the such for well known issues. I would hope that you have good maintenance records so they can see it's not your fault first. Either way good luck.
