Default DRL, puddle light, third brake light, not working (BCM says "short to ground")

good evening,
I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I have a 2012 f150 platinum. A few months ago I purchased and installed a pair of spyder aftermarket headlights. everything worked great. The other day I purchased and installed a set of raptor grill lights, and tied them into the DRL of the headlights. Again, everything worked great. However, a few hours later I noticed that my DRL, grill lights, puddle lights and third brake light were not working. I went back and checked everything, traced all wires, checked connections, fuses, you name it I did it. I tried disconnecting the grill lights thinking it was possibly drawing to many volts, still no luck. I got on the forum and found a post about the BCM throwing codes about this, so I went to my local dealer and got my truck scanned... $98....The scan showed a code within the BCM for the puddle lights that stated "short to ground." the dealer told me to go back and trace all my wires and find the short. my question is how should I go about this...and if by the grace of god I find something (which I doubt I will since I've already done this) will taking the battery cables off reset my BCM so I don't have to go spend another $98 and it possibly not work? Any advice will be greatly apricated.
Thank you
Nathan
