I got no traction with my trails. Needed 4wd just to get up a small hill.

Like I said before, if they have good packed snow to bite into, they will be good. But with just a little snow on the roads, those big blocks simply slide.

Werid. I've never not had traction with them. I've driven in rain, mud, sand, and snow (14", 6", and flurries, haha) all with out any doubt in my tires. However, mine still have a lot of tread on them, and that could be the reason, or it could be because everyone has different experiences. Either way Trail Grapplers for life! Haha, jk.

(Here are a couple I have been looking at, BFG KO ATs, Nitto terra Grappler, Nitto Trail Grapplers, and Toyo AT2s.)

For snow skinny is where it's at. I'm stepping down to a 235/80R17 for my snows. Personally, I like a open lug AT tire for snow. My snow tires will be between the General AT2 and the Good Year DuraTrac. The DuraTrac is very well received in the snow.

Follow up: Went with the Dura Tracs because the AT2's were on national back order. Couldn't be happy. These are the grippiest tires I've ever had. A slight humm at 70mph that gets louder at 40. Otherwise, I have nothing but good things to say about them.
