Default Dragging Brake anomaly!!

Ok, so I have a 2016 f150 xlt 4wd 2.7.
my front left (driver side) brake started dragging on me. I could tell by the rotor vibrating/warping and extreme heat. I changed all front pads and both rotors. Changed the front left brake caliper and caliper bracket with new, and changed the front left brake hose that connects to caliper with banjo bolt.

I’m at a loss here because it’s still dragging even after changing all these components. Is it something in the master cylinder possibly or the ABS module? I’d hate to think they’re failing on a 2016 but I guess that is 10 years ago and definitely possible.

Any thoughts here on this one?

thanks!!

I should have added. It starts out fine when driving but after about 10 min or so you can tell it starts progressively getting worse after heating up. Left (driver) side will smoke when right (passenger) side doesn’t.

Welcome to the forum. Did any of the brake pads have ears on them?

They did, I ensured they were installed correctly.

I would start by cracking open the bleeder screw on the affected caliper to see if that caliper suddenly relaxes. That should give you some direction to pursue.

You may consider changing the hoses. They are known to swell inside and hold pressure... Check them as raski above suggests.

I’ve changed that hose on the side it’s dragging on already. Pads, rotor, caliper, caliper bracket and hose are all brand new. Quadruple checked slide pins to ensure they’re adequately lined and slide freely as they should. I feel like everything that I could change, I have changed.

I thought it could maybe be master cylinder but I know that typically affects both front or both rear brakes but I guess always a possibility it’s affecting just one front brake.

I had to change the metal brake line from the hose to the ABS pump on my 2012. All good since. I have the passenger line to change at some point as well, but so far no dragging issue there.

I knew there was a fluid flow issue when I was backing off the pads. I used a C clamp to squeeze the piston back in and cold barely move it. If you have this and you have checked/changed the hose, it is probably the metal line has either swelled inside or has clogged with debris.
