Default Downfiring subs/ sub box

Hello Fam,

Have a 2013 f150 supercab and wanted to get some audio done. I have done some research and found out that the majority of sub size for under the seat is 10 inch subs. Has anyone built a box for 12's? I know the mounting depth is limited, but I wanted to see if anyone has a custom box for 12's. Although 10 inch subs will sound good with the right product, I would much rather have 12's under the seat for down firing, even if the seat doesn't go 100% down. Any help or recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I made this down fire sub box , it has a 10" woofer with a slide drawer . I'm thinking a 12" would work without the drawer . Just calculate the dead air space needed and build ... made the first box out of cardboard and transferred to wood the measurements

I have a 13 supercab as well and went with the made for OEM Kicker 10" down firing self powered sub. Hits pretty hard and looks like it was put there from the factory. Comes with a 200W amp but the speaker itself is rated for 400W so it's upgradeable, however the mirrors reflections are blurry enough when it hits. Bolts directly to the rear seat frame and allows the seat to sit flat and locked in place for passenger safety.

Made my own, built out of 13 layer birch and used an Infinity REF1200S 12" shallow-mount 2ohm sub paired with a rockford amp behind my seat. I also mocked mine up with cardboard, glued all the seams, and got feed through speaker terminals for no air leakage.

Is your amp mounted on the back wall, or do you have a plate of some sort?

Is mounted to back wall, there is a raised cab support member that I used some self tappers on so screws don’t protrude through cab.
