Default Does the 360 system need to work?

I am buying a 2022 F-150 XL truck to use on an island in the Bahamas. There are no car dealers. There are no lines on the road. There are no paved parking lots. There are boat ramps and I want to use the pro trailer backup assist feature. The truck I’m about to buy has a non working front camera, side and rear camera are cloudy and need replacement. Ford check it out and wants over $2000 to replace all cameras and calibrate.

im thinking I’ll just replace rear camera on the tailgate and forget the other cameras. But I’m concerned I’ll get error messages all the time and/or the truck will be disabled.

can I just forget the fix, put in a new rear camera myself?

thank you,
Exuma

I don`t think non working cameras would disable the vehicle. Why do you want something as large as an F 150 on an island in the Bahamas? You will be running over all those tourists on their rented scooters.

Your right ford said the 360 cameras don’t affect drivability.

why a big truck? Good question. I need to tow a boat to the various boat ramps up to 45 miles apart. Roads are rough. Paved roads have big potholes dirt roads have ruts. Ramps can be less than ideal.
We also run a little charity here to provide books and reading instruction to kids, food to needy and swimming lessons. So we are hauling supplies around the place.

i had ford replace the rear camera because it was cloudy. That made it worse. The front camera was totally broken so they determined that it must be replaced for rear camera to work properly. They ended up putting new camera in front and recalibrating and all works. The truck has the pro trailer feature that requires a working backup camera. My wife and I hope to use that feature.

Few scooters on our island, too many trucks on skinny bumpy roads to make them safe. There is really just one main two land road that runs the length of the island, 45 miles. And many small side roads to groups of homes. Population around 7,000. Everyone knows each other. Very friendly.
F-150’s are common here and considered most reliable. There are no dealerships so truck must be dependable. The aluminum body won’t rust away.
hybrid trucks are imported into the country at 10% duty. Regular engines vehicles 65% duty so I bought a used hybrid. Vehicles over 10 years old aren’t permitted to be imported.
