Default Discount Tire Direct, NEVER again

So I usually never post stuff about a company but I have had enough. Ordered a set of 4 Coopers for my Expedition on July 3rd. I knew they wouldnt ship until the 5th. Well, they created a label, but guess what, they are still sitting there. 3 days later, no scans, nothing. So I sent an email 2 days ago asking why no movement. Their email response says I will get a reply in 12-24 hours. 48 hours later, no email. So today I called them, got a nice guy who said he will look into it and call me back right away. Well, 5 hours later, nothing......So I called back and another "customer care specialist" said he would look into it and call me back. This time they did and told me they cant do anything, UPS missed a scan and the tires will start to ship today. So they blame UPS, told me they have a contract with them when I told them to use Fed-Ex. The agent then told me they can't us Fed-Ex, they have a contract. So okay, I ask for a quicker shipping method. He said they cant do that for me. This is my 7th set of tires I have ordered from them and they wont do anything but blame UPS. I told them they just lost a customer and he said "Sorry to hear that". I work in customer service and this is totally against what customer service is. They can blame the shipping partner all they want, so it takes the burden off them, but I cant choose my shipping method, so I am at their mercy if I want to order from them. Well, that will never happen again. I am discount tires customer, not UPS's customer. They didnt offer any sincerity, no partial discount, no "lets see what we can do for you", nothing. I could complain with UPS, but I know how that process goes......Maybe I am just being a whinny little bitch, but it seems like they could care less as long as they have UPS to blame. Rant/over

Sorry to hear about that, Jon. That's where I order all of my tires from and have never had a problem. Good luck getting it all sorted out.

That sucks to hear, yeah had a bad interaction with one in central Indiana, they lost my business for good however the one in my hometown that my dad and I use, as long as Mat is working there, he will get our business. Just recently my wife had 3 nails in the sidewall (her dad burns stuff in the driveway...) well tire was gunna be $180 out the door. After working with Mat, new tire for $15out the door and a free warranty on that tire (I don't normally waste my money with most warrantys)

Well this is the website, discounttiredirect.com. They just sent their first email to me, 54 hours after my initial email. All it said is they shipped my tires on the 5th, and thye are sorry for the delayed reply, because they are busier than normal. Maybe they did, but UPS never scanned them (which was obviously at a Discount warehouse, where they sat). The tires, as of a few hours ago, were still in the hands of Discount Tire. But they continue to blame UPS.

Hmm wonder if the problems would arise if you went to a shop and had them ordered, or if they would allow you to choose fedex. Never dealt with the website before

Contact your cc company and start a charge back, that'll get them off their asses. I've never dealt with DTD, I have only used Tirerack.com and always get super fast shipping, usually within 3 days and they're at my door.

^^Thats always been the case with DTD. I think I am being a little to impatient. I figured since I ordered them Saturday, July 2nd, they would ship the 5th. DTD says that is when they shipped, but tracking is still stale. Just got off the phone with them. He said I will get them Monday, the 11th. Last email told me the 13th is when I will get them. My way of thinking was 4 days from Tuesday would be that I get them on Friday. UPS sucks in my area, no Saturday, Sunday or Tuesday delivery. I am just baffled that they continue to blame UPS, even when I explained to them that DTD is who I bought them from, so they should deal with UPS, but they refuse to. That is why I may never use DTD again, they wont deal with their shipper of choice. Its like they are scared to cause an issue.

Good customer service is hard to find anymore. It seems everywhere I go the service isn't at the level it was 10 years ago.

UPS doesn't deliver on Sat unless you pay for upgraded service AND the shipper offers it (many do not). Never Sunday delivery. Not Tuesday? Never heard that.

Most companies do not let the customer pick the shipping company. Many companies use only one vendor, sometimes two (only USPS delivers to PO Boxes). Missing a scan does not mean the item did not ship. Ordering when you did should result in a Tuesday or Wednesday ship, and UPS has ground charts to show delivery, which could be as long as five days I believe. https://www.ups.com/maps

So yes, you are being impatient.

On weekends, UPS works Saturdays but not Sundays. UPS delivers*UPS Worldwide Express®,*UPS Next Day Air®*Early,*UPS Next Day Air*and*UPS 2nd Day Air®*packages on Saturdays. Packages must be processed and labeled for Saturday Delivery. The shipper pays extra for Saturday Delivery. Note: If the shipper sends a UPS 2nd Day Air package on Thursday, it will be delivered on Monday – unless Saturday Delivery is specified. Pickup service is available for air and international packages on Saturday via a regular Saturday pickup,*UPS On-Call Pickup®*service or at retail outlets such as*The UPS Store®. Please note that UPS Drop Boxes are not picked up on weekends. (For extremely urgent shipments,*UPS Express Critical®*service is available 365 days a year.)
