Disappointed with my F150, trading for a Toyota
I bought my 07 F150 because it was a very nice looking truck and I wanted a nice full size truck, I bought it from the original owner that kept up all the maintenance and took very good care of it, however I am very disappointed with the quality of this truck. New problems just keep popping up all the time and now there is the famous (or infamous) engine noise. My friend has a Toyota truck with nearly 400,000 miles and hasn't had even close to the amount of problems that my Ford has had in only 100,000 miles (his is even quieter and much less rattles). I also noticed that on auto trader there are all kinds of Ford trucks for sale and very few Toyotas for sale (I wonder why that is) It's a shame that American car companies won't build a reliable vehicle, with that said I am selling my F150 and buying a Toyota for sure.

Any brand truck has its lemon. That doesn't mean they are all bad. Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but if you think you are going to be immune to problems with another brand truck you are delusional and being unrealistic. Oh, and how many decades have the F150 been America's best selling truck?

I am actually an ASE Master auto technician with 27 years experience, I worked at a Ford dealer until 2002, then went to work at a Lexus dealer for the next 7 years, for 3 years I was a mechanical warranty inspector for warranty companies and I inspected vehicles from all dealerships to mom and pop shops. I went to Ford dealerships all the time inspecting warraty claims for engines, transmissions, rear ends amoung other things on their trucks. I rarely had to do inspections on Toyotas and when I did it was always something minor. I work on shop equipment now and have a company van so I wanted a truck to drive on weekends and I love the styling of the F150 and I figured since I wouldnt be driving it much that I wouldn't experience many issues that I had done inspections for, but I was wrong. F150s used to be great trucks, I'm not sure what happened to them. By the way, when I left Ford to work at Lexus/Toyota I went from doing a lot of warranty repair work and recalls to doing mostly gravy preventive maintenance work. I'm not bashing here, I am just stating facts and I wish Ford would step up their game.
