Dealership says the motor in my ‘17 f150 Limited is shot because of water pump failure. They say coolant has entered the crankcase. I haven’t put 1k miles (173k miles) on the truck. Previous owner said the water pump, cam phasers, and chain were changed at 148k miles (Provided service invoice).
Question… Can a 2018 Raptor engine be swapped with changing the harness? Can it just be tuned? Thanks!
Pics attached are from the oil and coolant spray and leaking.
Who cares if coolant entered the crankcase…it’s not going to kill the engine unless it was a bunch for a prolonged period of time. It looks to me like you have a leak external to the engine from any number of common failure points on an Ecoboost. Get a second opinion ASAP unless there’s more info you didn’t mention about engine health.
With time and money anything is possible. You could power it with a nuclear reactor. That said, I wouldnt trust the dealerships diagnosis. Coolant in the engine will wreck havoc on the bearings but it doesnt happen in 10 seconds. It takes a lot and running like that for a while.
Fix the coolant leak, change the oil and run it. See what happens then.
