Default Dealership experience

Hey there, I bought a 2019 Platinum January of 2022. Love the truck and all of the options, but I've had nothing but problems with the dealer I purchased from. Horrible customer service and a nightmare in general. Wouldnt throw in weather tech mats with purchase of $70,000 truck, or a ford hat lol. Said they gave me a "full tank of gas, isnt that enough". Any customer service went out the door the second i signed the papers. Horrible experience with service department, bad communication over all. Mechanic tells me my problems are make believe and all 19/20 ecoboosts chatter and sound like ****. These are just a few of the issues I've experienced with them, there are many more. And I've only had the truck for a few months. (This was my first purchase of newer vehicle from Ford Dealership, whole experience was horrible. Looking to get some input)
I'm just posting to see what kind of experience everyone else had buying from their local Ford dealer. Is this normal? Or am I just taking it out of context. I see family and friends buying new vehicles and getting royalty treatment from their dealers, I just feel like I got cheated and screwed.

(Please move thread if there is a better spot for it, wasn't able to find a spot for it)

a 3 year old f150 was $70k?

were the mats or hat mentioned as going to be given, or did you just ask for free after making/signing deal?

The positive is that you know you will never go back to that place.

Well done.

I can't tell you how poorly you were treated because I wasn't there to see it with my own eyes.

Note: This is the internet. You are going to find somebody on your side that says they too are treaded like poo and how dare they not give you free stuff.
Just the same as you'll find people giving a dealership glowing results.

There are 2 things here. How does a person perceive their service and how well was the service actually. Something you say is horrible service could be to me, spot on for what the situation is.
I would never claim "my salesman/dealership is horrible because they didn't give me free $150+ floormats. Never hurts to ask but nobody owes us anything. We reserve the right to decide they are horrible humans and just walk way. It's my choice to give away my money and be happy or angry about it.

The freebies of the past are getting harder to come by.
I used to be able to negotiate better tires, tonneau covers, etc. into a purchase.
But now they play the “tough current market” card and won’t budge on much at all.
Don’t be surprised, it’s just the way things are now. Maybe not everywhere, but lately this has been my experience.

Yes sir, 19 platinum fully loaded, had around 60,000km at time of purchase. (Roughly 70,000CAD after taxes and ext warranty). And to be honest with you I didn't negotiate the hat, or mats before purchase. I figured a set of mats were included with the purchase of any top trim level truck. The hat was an after thought, I asked for it once purchase was completed

Yep that's fair enough but a hat and mats aren't the deciding factor, more of a first impression. I don't believe they have to give anyone handouts, but I do believe you've got to earn your customers business. The major issue was treatment and customer service after the purchase along with various issues with service dept, that are still ongoing to this day. Have taken many days off work to sort issues to THEIR convenience, countless trips to and from dealership on my own dime (2hr drive), wasting my time, fuel, money, warranty km. Long story short, it wasn't about free items on day of purchase, more so treatment of a customer after its all said and done. And like you said we have the choice to just walk away, sadly I didn't. I have purchased the truck through them already and the deal is done, they are the only Ford dealership that's able to provide me with a loaner vehicle while they look at mine for any issues. Otherwise I would have switched dealers months ago

At first I like holy ****e! Then I did the conversion... roughly $55k for 37k mile platinum is better than I initially thought. Still sucks, and the dealership doesn't sound overly friendly, but this is a new world for vehicle sales. Take it or leave it.

Yeah you're totally right. Things have definitely changed. Tough market is right. Will definitely be heading to another dealership for the next one

Yeah for sure not as bad as initially thought, market is still horrible lol. And yeah you bet, it's a tough go but that seems to be the general consensus. Will just have to keep it in mind and look else where for the next one

I didn't see any examples of getting screwed. No freebies isn't getting screwed. It's a big expense but you can blame the popularity of pickups for that. People pay the money so they charge for it. I personally don't understand the phenomenon myself, I got mine for business and drove it like a business truck with my company lettered on the doors. It's retired now, like me and it's been too good to get rid of.
