So this Dongar adapter or the dimming mirror connections don't have a 12v constant? I guess that means no parking mode with the adapter?
I feel like I have to have parking mode on mine, but that's just me.

IDK what you mean by "parking mode". All my cameras (even the cheapos) have internal backup power so that if there's an impact when the key is off, they record & save automatically. But it's not hard or expensive to run a wire up from the dash to the RV mirror in most vehicles.

Parking mode just means the cam keeps recording when the vehicle is parked; not running.

Just now seeing this.......>I will post photos from the interior tomorrow. However, be aware that the Garmin 57 does not support a second rear camera, and the Dongar adapter setup does not power the camera when the truck is not running. FYI.

As far as powering my dash cam -

On my Lariat I have 2 USB ports in the little cubby with a sliding door ahead of the shifter on the console. Those ports are powered only when the truck is on. I just ran the included power cord out of there and around the console, behind the glove box, and up the A pillar on the passenger side.

The cubby cover closes enough so the light inside goes out. I don't even notice the little bit of USB cord showing after a day or two.

No constant 12v with the Dongar mirror adapter. If you want parking mode with most any dashcam, you'll need to hardwire it, typically with a setup that shuts it down when your vehicle battery voltage drops to a specific voltage. You can also wire up a dedicated dashcam battery (some can also be wired in parallel for even longer run times).

You have NO external power to the dashcam and, without external power, you're dashcam records and saves video when it detects an impact? What dashcams are YOU using? Not even the top of the line stuff like Blackvue or Thinkware, or even the VIOFO stuff can do that without being hardwired.

I can't imagine having to change memory cards all the time. I can easily see a scenario where I forget to change the card and have an accident and it didn't record.
Loop will work fine - just make sure camera is on a solid mount as my camera with an unstable mount will shake causing cam to store random hard bumps in the road as a collision. So within a week the 32 gb card needs to be deleted. I need to fix this as it is a PITA.

I use a Garmin 57 camera in my truck and my wife's, they work great, crystal clear, and the app is good too.

Just ordered the Dongar adapter, wish I would have known about this a while ago before spending an hour running the cable from the camera to the center console.

This is a still photo from it, the video is much clearer

That sounds more like "always on". How is "parking mode" any different from "driving mode"?

Nonda Zus, Uniden iWitness, Aukey FHD, Anker Roav... AFAIK, all of them will record on impact with the key off. But they're all hardwired to come on automatically with the key in RUN.
